Runner Fractures Skull in Otay Mesa Intersection Fall

roll-siempre-viva.jpgA woman fell and suffered a skull fracture Monday morning while running across the street in Otay Mesa, 10 News reported. The trip and fall accident happened at the intersection of Roll Drive and Siempre Viva Drive at about 6 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2010. According to news reports, it was not evident how the 57-year-old woman ended up on the ground, although she was reportedly not struck by a vehicle. The woman, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Cause of the Accident

It is not clear whether the woman was jogging, or running from something when she fell. It is also not clear whether she tripped due to a dangerous condition in the road, or if she was simply not paying attention to where she was going. If this accident was caused by a unforeseen hazard or dangerous condition in the intersection, the county or city agency responsible for maintaining the intersection could be liable for the victim's injuries, including medical expenses, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and other damages.
