Woman Struck and Killed by Car in San Diego
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego County Coroner's Office reported in a press release that a 62-year-old woman was fatally struck by a Honda Civic in the Middletown area of San Diego. At about 9:25 p.m. Saturday, the woman was walking east in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Reynard Way and Redwood Street when the driver of a Honda - a 75-year-old woman - failed to yield and hit her.
The collision caused the woman to be thrown onto the street where she then suffered "blunt force injuries." Following this horrific accident, she was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where she later died due to her injuries. The female pedestrian's name is currently being withheld until her family is notified.
UPDATE: The 62-year-old woman involved in this pedestrian accident has been identified as Gabriela Alexandrescu of San Diego, the San Diego County Coroner's Office reported.

SAN DIEGO -- A 59-year-old woman was struck by a taxi in downtown San Diego, CBS 8 News reported. The woman, whose name was not released, was attempting to to cross at the intersection of West G Street and Kettner Boulevard on Saturday, when she was hit by a taxi that was turning left onto Kettner. The impact of the collision caused the woman to land on the hood of the car and sustain serious head injuries. She was then transported to a hospital for further treatment.
SAN DIEGO - A pedestrian suffered a broken pelvis after being struck by a sport utility vehicle in a Pacific Beach crosswalk Wednesday night, 10 News reported. The accident occurred at 8:45 p.m. when the pedestrian, a 67-year-old man who reportedly had been drinking, began crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at Ingraham Street and Moorland Drive, and was struck by a 73-year-old woman driving Chevrolet SUV. The woman driving the SUV told investigators she did not see him before the accident. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY - An 85-year-old Ramona man tragically died of his injuries on Saturday, February 12, 2011, one day after he was hit by a pickup truck in Ramona, the Ramona Sentinel reported. The car vs. pedestrian accident occurred at 7:47 a.m. on February 11, 2011, at the intersection of Main Street (State Route 78) and Seventh Street. The victim, Manuel Alba, 85, suffered broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, and a major head injury. He was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center where he died Saturday. A 53-year-old Imperial Beach was tragically struck and killed by a pickup truck Friday morning in a National City crosswalk, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. The accident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010, at the intersection of D Avenue and East 18th Street. The victim was identified as Maria Trinidad Anguiano Galindo, who was reportedly on her way to work when she was struck at the intersection. The driver was attempting a left turn from southbound D Avenue onto 18th Street. He told police that when he turned eastbound on the green light, the sun was in his eyes and he did not see the woman in the crosswalk before fatally striking Galindo, who died at the scene of the crash.
