Man Tragically Killed in Chula Vista Bicycle Accident

According to 10 News, a 77-year-old man struck a bicyclist with his car just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The tragic Chula Vista incident happened on Fourth Avenue when the driver was exiting a parking lot at Rice Elementary. The bicyclist, whose name is being withheld, was taken to a local hospital, where died about an hour later from his injuries. Lt. Eric Thunberg indicated that it is not clear if the driver was an employee at the school, however, he reported that the bicyclist apparently had the right of way at the time of the collision.

SAN DIEGO - A bicyclist sustained major injuries after he was struck by a car in Sorrento Valley Thursday afternoon. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, a Toyota sedan apparently swerved to the right and then struck the bicyclist at about 1:05 p.m. on Sorrento Valley Boulevard, just east of Whispering Heights Lane. The car eventually came to complete stop after it traveled across the sidewalk and struck a tree.
