Motorcyclist Struck by Pickup Truck in San Diego

The terrible crash occurred at the intersection 4th Avenue and Broadway just around 8:40 a.m Friday. According to Sgt. Ray Battrick of the San Diego Police Department, the motorcyclist was traveling south on 4th when he was hit by a 23-year-old man driving east in a 1979 Chevy pickup. The motorcyclist suffered a broken hip and other leg injuries after the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment. No other details were released regarding the incident or the names of the individuals involved.

Man, Woman, and Toddler Struck by Car in Hillcrest

The tragic accident happened at the intersection of 4th and University Avenue when for unknown reasons the driver of a car struck the three of them. The woman and a young girl, who was in a stroller, were taken to a local hospital. One of them is said to have sustained life-threatening injuries. The victims' names or whether the male pedestrian was injured was not immediately available.

The boy, whose name was not released, was riding his bicycle along National Avenue at 37th Street at 6:08 p.m., when he was severely hit by a southbound car. The impact of the collision left the boy with a broken tibia and fibula. After the accident, he was taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Motorcyclist Struck and Injured by Two Cars in Escondido

The accident occurred at about 5:50 a.m., when the driver of a 2003 Saturn, Michael Maclean, 29, of Escondido, failed to stop at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Birch Avenue, and then struck the 21-year-old Escondido motorcyclist Edgar Hernandez-Rodriguez. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike and land on the road.

While Hernandez-Rodriguez was laying on the road, the driver of 2003 Dodge Dakota, Matthew Bertrand, 41, of Santee, struck him about 8 minutes after the crash. According to CHP officer Chris Parent, people at the scene tried to warn Bertrand of the injured motorcyclist lying on the road, but he failed to stop.

Following this horrific accident, Hernandez-Rodriguez sustained major injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Based on the information provided by North County Times, it appears the driver of Saturn may be at fault for the collision due to failing to stop at stop sign. According the Chula Vista Police Lt. Dan Hardman, the motorcyclist could not avoid the collision, and therefore, struck the side of the vehicle. After this devastating crash, the motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately available, suffered serious injuries and was transported to UCSD Medical Center for further treatment.

One Killed, Two Severely Injured in Chula Vista Car Crash

Hunte and Eastlake pkwys.pngCHULA VISTA -- A horrific solo vehicle accident at the intersection of Eastlake and Hunte parkways left one person dead and two others seriously injured Friday morning. According to 10 News, the driver of a car traveling west on Hunte Parkway failed to make a turn onto Eastlake Parkway, which then caused the vehicle to crash into a guardrail and down a 100-foot embankment.

Following the crash, one person was airlifted to a local hospital and another person was taken to a hospital via ambulance. The third occupant in the car, who was the rear seat passenger, was reported to have died at scene. And according to a press release provided by the San Diego County Coroner, the deceased individual was is identified as Rebecca Anne Mabunay, 23, of Chula Vista.

Motorcyclist Killed in Left-Turn Crash on Rosecrans Street

rosecranscanon.jpgPOINT LOMA - A 20-year-old US Navy Sailor was tragically killed Thursday when his Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Cadillac Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Canon Street, San Diego Police reported. The motorcyclist, who was not named, was riding northbound on Rosecrans Street when a 64-year-old woman driving southbound made a left turn at Canon Street and collided with his motorcycle at about 1:30 p.m. The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike thrown into the back passenger window of the Cadillac. He died at the scene of the crash. Rosecrans Street was closed between Upshur Street and Shelter Island Drive while police investigated. The driver of the Cadillac suffered cuts and bruises, and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the motorcyclist had sped up as he entered the intersection when the light turned yellow. Chula Vista Man Killed in East County Motorcycle Accident

camporoadlamesa.jpgCASA DE ORO - A 63-year-old Chula Vista man was tragically killed Thursday morning when an SUV turned into the path of his motorcycle, 10 News reported. The victim, Michael Ennis, was riding a 2009 Kawasaki Concourse east on Campo Road at about 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2010. At the same time, Wendy Antisdel, a 48-year-old Spring Valley woman, was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee eastbound. The driver of the Jeep made a left turn directly into the path of Ennis's motorcycle near Merritt Boulevard. According to the CHP, Ennis braked and laid the motorcycle on its side. The bike clipped one of the rear wheels of the Jeep and Ennis was ejected. He was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, but died shortly before 3 p.m. Antisdel reportedly told investigators she was trying to turn into a driveway when the collision occurred.

Cause of the March 10th Spring Valley Motorcycle Crash

The cause of the fatal motorcycle accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, if news accounts of the incident are accurate, the driver of the Jeep is likely responsible for this fatal accident. Ramona Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident

mainstreeteighthstreet.jpgRAMONA -- A 68-year-old Ramona woman suffered serious injuries Sunday night when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Eighth Street, the Ramona Sentinel reported. According to reports, the victim, Darlene Gadberry, was crossing the intersection after purchasing coffee at the Chevron station when she was struck by a pickup truck making a left turn from northbound Eighth Street onto westbound Main street. The driver of the pickup truck, which was either white, or white and silver, continued west without stopping. Gadberry was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with serious injuries, including a broken pelvis, broken rips, and a collapsed lung.

Anyone with information about the driver of the pickup truck is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol's El Cajon office at 619-401-2000.

This Ramona pedestrian accident happens less than a month after an 85-year-old man was killed in a car vs. pedestrian accident at the intersection of Main Street and Seventh Street, just one block away. On February 11th, Ramona resident Manuel Alba was struck by a Ford F 250 when a 24-year-old driver was reportedly blinded due to the sun in his eyes. He died the next day at Palomar Medical Center.

Motorcyclist Injured in Poway Accident

The motorcyclist, who was not identified, collided with an SUV at the busy intersection. According to San Diego County Sheriff's officials, the collision was reported at 6:34 p.m. on February 28, 2011. No one else was reportedly injured in the collision, the cause of which remains under investigation.

Four People Hurt in Suspected DUI Crash in San Diego

sixth-a-downtown.jpgDOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO - Four people were hurt Friday night in a suspected DUI intersection crash at Sixth Avenue and A Street, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. The February 4th accident was reported at 9:08 p.m., and involved a Honda Accord being pursued by the California Highway Patrol and a Toyota Matrix. Prior to the crash, the CHP began pursuing the Honda on Interstate 8. The pursuit continued to south state Route 163. The driver reportedly yielded along the 163, and the CHP officer directed the driver to take the University Avenue offr amp in Hillcrest. The driver of the Honda then fled to Sixth Avenue, and collided with the Toyota at A Street downtown.

A passenger in the Honda and the driver of the Toyota both suffered major injuries. Two passengers in the Toyota suffered less serious injuries. The driver of the Honda was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony evading and resisting arrest. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

El Cajon Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Broadway

At about 6:30 p.m., the motorcyclist, who was not identified, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Broadway when a Honda Accord in a westbound turn lane crossed into his path and caused a collision. The victim was transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he died around 7:15 p.m.

Cause of the January 31st Motorcycle Crash

The El Cajon Police Department is investigating the cause of the fatal January 31st motorcycle accident in San Diego County. Based on the information provided in news reports, it appears that the driver of the Honda Accord may be responsible for this accident. Holtville Woman Killed, Man Injured in Imperial County Crash

The victim, Martha Arroyo, 44, of Holtville, was a passenger in a 2000 Hyundai driven northbound on Highway 7 by Juan Arroyo, 45, also of Holtville. At the same time, a 2010 Chevy truck driven by Dustin Nelson, 28, of El Centro, was travelling westbound at Heber Road. Nelson reportedly did not see the Arroyo vehicle as they approached the intersection. He pulled forward and his truck struck the right side of the Arroyo's Hyundai. The accident occurred at bout 5:15 p.m. Juan Arroyo was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Cause of the Imperial County Crash

The cause of the fatal January 22nd Imperial County Crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, based on news reports and information provided by the CHP, it appears that the El Centro man driving the Chevy truck may be determined to be at fault for this crash. It is unclear how the fast the Hyundai was travelling when it was struck.

Three People Hurt January 6th in El Centro Intersection Crash

forrester-ross.jpgIMPERIAL COUNTY - A two-car collision Thursday afternoon in El Centro left three people with moderate injuries, KXO Radio reported. According to the CHP, the crash was reported at 5:17 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2010, at the intersection of Forrester Road and Ross Road. Monica Ahumada, 21, of El Centro, was driving westbound on Ross Road at a "high rate of speed," while at the same time, Ramon Valdez, 35, of Cathedral City, was driving southbound on Forrester Road at about 45 miles per hour. Ahumada noticed the stop sign as she neared the intersection, but was not able to stop in time. Her aggressive braking caused the front wheels on her vehicle to lock. Ahumada's vehicle entered the intersection at the same time as Valdez's vehicle (Valdez did not have a stop sign). Ahumada, Valdez, and a passenger in Valdez's vehicle, Clemente Munoz, 57, were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Cause of the Crash

If news accounts of this crash are accurate, Ahumada is likely responsible for the collision for failing to stop at the El Centro intersection. However, the incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
