SAN DIEGO -- A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday when she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle in the College Area. According to 10 News, the woman, whose name was not released, was riding south on College Avenue, near Cresita Drive, when she was hit by a Hyundai SUV at about 5:30 p.m.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man, was attempting to pass the bicyclist who was in the slow lane, but there was not enough room. The collision caused the female bicyclist to hit the ground and suffer major facial fractures.
