El CAJON - Two pedestrians were seriously struck by a car in El Cajon before 2 a.m. Saturday. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, a man and woman were crossing West Main Street near Van Houten Avenue, when a driver of a Mitsubishi Montero SUV traveling westbound struck them.
Following this horrific incident, pedestrian woman, Melissa N. Ferreira, 25, of San Diego sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma. The male pedestrian, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Cause of the Pedestrian Accident in El Cajon
Based on the several information provided by news reports, it is unclear what caused the driver to hit the pedestrians. Therefore, police officials will further investigate the accident and determine who is ultimately responsible and if distracted driving, negligent or reckless actions of the driver, vehicle malfunctions, and/or road conditions played a factor in the collision.
