OCEANSIDE -- A 59-year-old pedestrian man was severely struck by a car Friday. According to 10 news, this horrible incident along North Coast Highway and State Route 76 was reported around noon, when a Dodge Durango SUV rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado. The collision caused a chain reaction in which another vehicle - a Nissan Altima - was hit as well.
Following the three-vehicle collision, the SUV for unknown reasons somehow jumped the curb, struck a pedestrian, and came to a stop after slamming into an unoccupied building. The pedestrian was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla for further treatment. The individuals' names involved in the accident or the extent of the pedestrian's injuries were not immediately released.

Based on the information provided by 10 News, it is not clearly known why the driver of the Dodge Durango rear-ended the vehicle.
