POWAY -- An elderly man who was using a walker was critically injured Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle in a Poway parking lot, North County Times reports. The accident happened at 13589 Poway Road and officials responded to the scene at about 2:12 p.m.
People who witnessed the incident, told police, the pedestrian was struck when the driver of a vehicle was backing out of a parking spot. Following the accident, the pedestrian, whose name was not released, sustained injuries after hitting his head against the pavement, and was transported to local hospital for further treatment.

The accident on November 8th remains under investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. However, based on the limited information provided by the North County Times, it is not clear why the driver did not see the pedestrian walking.
