Woman Injured in San Diego Bicycle Accident
SAN DIEGO -- A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday when she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle in the College Area. According to 10 News, the woman, whose name was not released, was riding south on College Avenue, near Cresita Drive, when she was hit by a Hyundai SUV at about 5:30 p.m.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man, was attempting to pass the bicyclist who was in the slow lane, but there was not enough room. The collision caused the female bicyclist to hit the ground and suffer major facial fractures.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY -Two brothers were horrifically attacked by dogs while they were jogging in the Valley Center area on Sunday, 10 News reports. The brothers, Richard and John Garritson were jogging with three other family members along a trail off Cobb Lane when they were mauled by four pit bulls. The attack eventually came to a hault when they were called by their unidentified owner. However, the aftermath of this tragic dog attack left the two brothers severely injured and were both flown to Sharp Hospital for further treatment.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY - A 25-year-old man was tragically killed as he was trying to cross the freeway in Oceanside at about 9:25 p.m. Saturday, 10 News reports. The man, who police are still trying to identify, was struck by a Toyota Corolla while he was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Harbor Drive. Following the collision, the unidentified male pedestrian was reported to have died at the scene due to his traumatic injuries.
SAN DIEGO -- A 59-year-old woman was struck by a taxi in downtown San Diego, CBS 8 News reported. The woman, whose name was not released, was attempting to to cross at the intersection of West G Street and Kettner Boulevard on Saturday, when she was hit by a taxi that was turning left onto Kettner. The impact of the collision caused the woman to land on the hood of the car and sustain serious head injuries. She was then transported to a hospital for further treatment.
El CAJON - Two pedestrians were seriously struck by a car in El Cajon before 2 a.m. Saturday. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, a man and woman were crossing West Main Street near Van Houten Avenue, when a driver of a Mitsubishi Montero SUV traveling westbound struck them.
OCEANSIDE -- A 59-year-old pedestrian man was severely struck by a car Friday. According to 10 news, this horrible incident along North Coast Highway and State Route 76 was reported around noon, when a Dodge Durango SUV rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado. The collision caused a chain reaction in which another vehicle - a Nissan Altima - was hit as well.
OCEANSIDE - A 49-year-old Poway man was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident at about 6 a.m. Friday, CBS 8 News reported. The accident happened on north Interstate 5 south of Basilone Road, when the motorcyclist was struck by a 2003 Nissan 350Z driven by Eugene McCulloch, 23, of Camp Pendleton. According to CHP officer Chris Parent, McCulloch was traveling about 70 mph when he veered towards the median and lost control as he tried to correct it. The result of the crash caused the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, to sustain fatal injuries.
BONSALL -- A man who is a subcontractor hired by Caltrans to restore native habitat was in a horrific accident at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday along State Route 76. According to 10 News, the worker, Jason Giessow, was standing next to a vegetation-clearing equipment when a loose cable caught in the machinery. The cord then whipped towards Giessow and tragically severed his arm.
POWAY - A pedestrian was severely struck by a car in Poway Sunday night, 10 News reports. The accident happened at about 9 p.m. on Poway Road just west of Tarascan Drive, when the pedestrian, whose name was not released, was attempting to cross Poway Road. Following the collision, the pedestrian was transported to a hospital with "significant injuries."
CHULA VISTA -- A horrific solo vehicle accident at the intersection of Eastlake and Hunte parkways left one person dead and two others seriously injured Friday morning. According to 10 News, the driver of a car traveling west on Hunte Parkway failed to make a turn onto Eastlake Parkway, which then caused the vehicle to crash into a guardrail and down a 100-foot embankment.
POWAY -- An elderly man who was using a walker was critically injured Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle in a Poway parking lot, North County Times reports. The accident happened at 13589 Poway Road and officials responded to the scene at about 2:12 p.m.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY -- A horrific fiery head-on car collision in Lakeside left a three people injured, 10 News reports. The car crash occurred on the 11900 block of Highway 67 just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The extent of how this car accident occurred along with the individuals involved were not immediately available. However, following the crash it was reported by that one person was critically injured and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for further treatment. The two other individuals hurt in the collision were not immediately detailed.
SAN DIEGO - A 41-year-old Hemet man who is a lead pastor at New Wine Ministries in Oceanside was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child molestation, the North County Times reported. The suspected, Matthias Anderson, was arrested at about 7:45 a.m. near the juvenile victim's Murrieta home. According to police, the girl and her mother have been attending the suspect's church for two years.
