Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Cars on State Route 125 in La Mesa

SR125 La Mesa.pngSAN DIEGO COUNTY -- A pedestrian was fatally struck and killed on State Route 125 in La Mesa at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, 10 News reports. The man, whose name was not released pending family notification, was running across the southbound freeway when he was severely struck by a gray Honda Accord. The driver of the Accord called 911 to report the incident and mentioned that other vehicles hit the man as well. A total eight vehicles stopped following the accident, but it is not exactly known how many of them struck the pedestrian. According to Sgt. Damian Budwine of the CHP, the pedestrian is believed to be 25 to 35 years old.

Based on the limited information provided by news reports, it is unclear why the pedestrian was running across the highway. It is also not evident whether the drivers on the road were able to avoid or prevent the collision. Therefore, the California Highway Patrol will continue to investigate this October 3rd accident and determine what happened and why.
