Man Struck and Killed by Trolley in El Cajon

San Diego trolley.jpgSAN DIEGO COUNTY -- A 48-year-old man was severely struck and killed by a trolley at an East County transit depot Wednesday, NBC San Diego reports. The man, whose name is withheld pending notification of his family, was hit by a trolley at about 2:30 p.m. just east of Arnele Avenue in El Cajon. People who have witnessed the collision reported that the man walked from the trolley platform onto the trolley tracks and into the path of an oncoming trolley. Lt. Frank Haye of the El Cajon Police Department stated that the trolley driver sounded the horn and activated the emergency breaks, while the pedestrian attempted to retreat back onto the trolley platform before he was struck. Authorities reported the pedestrian man died at the scene of the accident. The El Cajon Police Department will continue to investigate this dreadful accident to determine who is officially responsible and whether or not it could have been prevented. Woman Seriously Injured in Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accident in City Heights

Central Avenue.pngSAN DIEGO -- A 61-year-old pedestrian woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a vehicle in City Heights at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, 10 News reports. The woman, whose name was not released, was removing her dead dog that had been hit by another vehicle on Central Avenue just near Dwight Street. According to the San Diego Police, while the woman was retrieving her dog, a vehicle, described to be an older red Buick sedan and driven by a Hispanic male with facial hair, hit the woman and then fled the scene. Following this terrible accident, the woman sustained a broken leg and a lacerated liver and was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Rollover Accident Reported in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD - The North County Times reported a vehicle overturned in a collision Saturday afternoon in Carlsbad, near the intersection of Rancho Santa Fe Road and Calle Barcelona. The accident was reported at 5:54 p.m. on September 10, 2011, and traffic was blocked around the intersection until after 6:30 p.m., according to dispatch reports. The NC Times reported that driver of the overturned vehicle may have been injured, but the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. It is unclear if this was a solo-vehicle accident, or if multiple vehicles were involved.

Pedestrian Injured in Clairemont Mesa Pedestrian Accident

genesseesign.jpgSAN DIEGO - A 54-year-old man was seriously injured Monday night after being struck by a car in Clairemont Mesa, 10 News reported. The accident occurred at the intersection of Genesee Avenue and Mount Alifan Drive at about 9:05 p.m. Monday. According to news reports, an Acura driven southbound by a 19-year-old man struck a 54-year-old man crossing the street in the 4000- block of Genesee Avenue. The pedestrian, who was not identified, suffered a broken arm and bleeding in the brain, and remained hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday. The cause of the injury accident remains under investigation by the San Diego Police Department.
