fiestaislandsd.jpgSAN DIEGO COUNTY - On Saturday, August 6, 2011, a six-year-old girl was rushed to Rady Children's Hospital after being run over by a boat, reports 10 News. The girl, identified as Neve Walker, was being pulled by a Sea Doo on an inner tube with her brother near Fiesta Island when a boat approached the Sea Doo from behind and veered directly into the path of the children. The boat struck the inner tube, causing Walker to fall off, and then preceded to run over her. The victim's brother escaped injury, but the young girl suffered multiple rib fractures, a collapsed lung, and cuts and bruises. According to the young girl's father, a police report had been filed but, as of yet, no charges had been pressed and no citations has been issued against the boat driver.

Cause of the Fiesta Island Boating Accident

Although the official cause of the accident has not been released, police are investigating why the boat operator ran directly into the path of the children. It is possible the boat operator could have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs or was simply not paying attention. Another possible reason for the accident could be operator inexperience.
