Woman Struck and Killed on Camino Del Sur
SAN DIEGO - A 56-year-old San Diego County woman very tragically died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla late Tuesday morning, about an hour after being struck by a speeding vehicle on Camino Del Sur, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. The victim, Joan Milazzo, 56, had been hiking with her husband and sister when the group began crossing Camino Del Sur, south of Caminito Santaluz Norte in the Black Mountain area. The driver of a Nissan Sentra had been speeding in the southbound lane when he lost control of his vehicle and struck Milazzo. Witnesses called 911 and initiated CPR. She was rushed to the La Jolla hospital, where she died around 11:00 a.m.
Cause of the Fatal Pedestrian Accident
The San Diego Union Tribune reported that charges are pending against the driver, per the Medical Examiner's office. The driver was only identified as a 25-year-old motorist. Based on the information provided in news reports, it appears that the driver of the Nissan Sentra is likely responsible for this fatal collision. However, the cause of the August 30th pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the San Diego Police Department.

SAN DIEGO - Four people are recovering after a vicious pit bull attack in a City Heights neighborhood. The youngest, a six-year-old girl, suffered a bite to the face. The girl was bit while playing with the owner of the dog's daughter. The child received several stitches in her face and also suffered a wound to her arm. The owner and his daughter were also bit, while trying to restrain the pit bull after the bite. The dog was taken to the Gaines Street Animal Shelter, where it was put under observation, and tested for rabies. While under observation, the officials will take into consideration how many times the animal has attacked, the severity of the wounds, and how responsible the owner is. These factors will determine whether or not the dog will be euthanized.
LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION - An unidentified woman tragically died early Monday morning after she was struck by a Ford Taurus on Highway 76, San Diego 6 News reported. The accident was reported around 3:30 a.m. just east of Harolds Road. The woman was reportedly walking in the roadway when she was struck. The driver allegedly fled the scene and parked at SR-76 and Valley Center Road before fleeing the area on foot. After an extensive search, the suspect, believed to be a a 69-year-old Escondido man, was located near Valley Center and Golsh Road. No further details were immediately released.
RAMONA - An 11-year-old boy suffered a broken arm and leg Tuesday when he was hit by a pickup truck on Main Street, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. According to CHP reports, the boy was not wearing a helmet and was riding against traffic when he was struck at 1:41 p.m., near the corner of 10th and Main Street. He was airlifted to Rady Children's Hospital following the accident. The cause of the August 9th Ramona bicycle accident remains under investigation. According to the North County Times, officers found no evidence that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY - On Saturday, August 6, 2011, a six-year-old girl was rushed to Rady Children's Hospital after being run over by a boat, reports 10 News. The girl, identified as Neve Walker, was being pulled by a Sea Doo on an inner tube with her brother near Fiesta Island when a boat approached the Sea Doo from behind and veered directly into the path of the children. The boat struck the inner tube, causing Walker to fall off, and then preceded to run over her. The victim's brother escaped injury, but the young girl suffered multiple rib fractures, a collapsed lung, and cuts and bruises. According to the young girl's father, a police report had been filed but, as of yet, no charges had been pressed and no citations has been issued against the boat driver.
