Child Struck by Car in El Cajon

A child suffered "significant and serious injuries" Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in El Cajon, the El Cajon Police Department reported in a press release. The accident occurred in the 1300 block of Melody at 10:37 a.m. Saturday, February 5th. According to reports, the motorist was travelling eastbound on Melody when the pedestrian left the sidewalk and entered traffic. The young pedestrian was taken to Children's Hospital. Speed was reportedly not a factor in the collision.
