A child suffered "significant and serious injuries" Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in El Cajon, the El Cajon Police Department reported in a press release. The accident occurred in the 1300 block of Melody at 10:37 a.m. Saturday, February 5th. According to reports, the motorist was travelling eastbound on Melody when the pedestrian left the sidewalk and entered traffic. The young pedestrian was taken to Children's Hospital.
