Two young women died tragically in a violent crash on Interstate 15 Saturday evening, San Diego 6 News reported. The accident occurred on southbound I-15 near the transition ramp to Interstate 805 just before 7 p.m. on October 9, 2010. According news reports, the two women, identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner as Elizabeth Belete, 19, and Cassandra Lopez Robinson, 21, were occupants of a Nissan Altima that, for reasons still under investigation, lost control and sideswiped a Lexus GS 300.
As a result of the impact, both the Nissan and the Lexus went off the road and down an embankment. The Nissan overturned multiple times and both of the occupants of the Nissan were thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The three people in the Lexus suffered non life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
