Nine people, ages ranging from 18 to 51, suffered minor to serious injuries Wednesday afternoon when a Mitsubishi Eclipse collided with a Metropolitan Transit System bus in City Heights, authorities reported. The accident happened at the intersection of 37th Street and University Avenue, at about 3:40 p.m., police reported. The red Mitsubishi apparently was heading south on 37th and ran a stop sign and struck the bus, which was headed east. The car spun out following the collision, and the driver attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle. The car, which had major damage, stalled out, and the driver fled on foot. Police found an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle.
